Last week a 70-year old man won £360,000 in the Intercasino during 10 days playing on the online roulette. He said “keeping up with modern technology and being both physically and mentally active has definitely stood me in good stead”….

Those of you who play roulette often probably have better idea of the possibility of this being due to random chance, expertise & experience or some sort of external technological assistance Mr. Perrott could have been getting.

What do you recon it is guys?

Christmas Betting

Posted on 21-12-2007 | Posted in Betting by Gambling Diva

OK so it’s not like there’s much money left over to spend on a little bet, but its tradition for me now that I put a couple of quid on a white Christmas!  So at least I can say ‘I told you so’ when it really happens.  Fingers crossed!

Dream And win

Posted on 18-12-2007 | Posted in General by Gambling Diva

Just heard about this cool new site called Dream and Win where players can win some great prizes - they just launched their online raffle where people are given the chance to fulfill their ultimate fantasies and win fab prizes such as the chance to fly a Mig-29 aircraft or a Formula One Race package which involves a 5 day all expenses paid trip to France (not bad!). The other prize is another 5 day trip this time to Russia to perfect the art of flying some of the Worlds best fighter jets and visiting the Airforce Museum there which is well reknowned. These have to be the ideal prize for adrenaline junkies and what a great present to win for Christmas. Players can feel safe playing at the site according to the owner Sagis, its a secure site and one that use proven technology and payment systems. It also completely transparent and players can see the odds of winning - the first prize 1 in 2000, but to be honest I’d be happy to win one of the many other prizes out there, not sure I’m up for flying a fighter jet - think that might be a bit lethal with me driving!

It is very hard today to find a site, with genuine online casino tips. The problem occurs from the conflict instead.

This can be seen in many affiliate sites, that tent to praise their chosen operators above others and make them look much more attractive than the ones they have no deal with.

Well, to avoid being a victim of such conspiracy, what you can do is look for genuine blogs, like this one, or blogs that are designed by an ordinary user. These are usually free blogs as they cost nothing to create.

The thought was evoked in my mind when I saw the newly created little blog, called gamblepedia.blogspot.com

Growth Raises Fear

Posted on 11-12-2007 | Posted in General by Gambling Diva

The gambling industry has moved a long way since the times when Vegas was considered the only place to place your bets. Nevertheless, UK gambling market is still fairly immature. We have been betting on horses for centuries, but online for hardly a decade.

The biggest growth came for 2005 and 2006, which attracted media, public and investors due ot he huge potential the gambling market represents. The concept of free bets has only been discovered thanks to online gambling. online casinos have been seriously hit by the recent gambling regulations though. Firstly, none of the online casinos outside the EEA (European Economic Area) are permitted to advertise any more, unless they are on a “Whitelist”, which is a list of all the operators that have received exclusive rights to advertise for being genuine, safe and secure for the user. The fact that UK bookmakers are now also prohibited to accept bets from US users, who used to generate the most profit for the UK businesses, came as another huge hit to the operators’ profits.

It seems that with the development and rapid growth of the industry, the governments of most countries started getting concerned about the threats the industry brings, such as crime, fraud, underaged and compulsive gambling and so son. America went further than anyone else in “protecting” their citizens by banning online gambling all together, but the laws are very unclear, as they vary from state to state and have exclusions, such as scratch cards and lottery tickets. The ban has been critisized by many, including some government officials. There are speculations that US government introduced the law to be more in control of such profitable market, as most of the online operators were based outside the US borders.

Even Russian government is planning to introduce gambling regulations by 2009, which made its gambling giant, Ritzio Entertainment Group, look elsewhere to ensure the contengency plan is in place if the regulations are to be introduced.

I am very interested in what you have to say about this. Do you think that our “protectors” are in it to help and ensure safety and security or there is a hidden agenda there? Please leave your comments below.

Posted on 10-12-2007 | Posted in Poker by Gambling Diva

A teenage girl from Norway who made a name for herself by playing online poker has become the youngest person ever to win the Tournament Performance of the Year prize at the prestigious European Poker Awards. Annette Obrestad started playing when she was just 15 and managed to amass close to $1 million (£490,000) in prize winnings through online poker tournaments in just a six-month period.

Having been crowned the best online poker player in the world by tracking website pocketfives.com, Obrestad then went on to win £1 million for coming first in the World Series of Poker, held in London’s Leicester Square in September. Commenting on her remarkable rise to fame after also coming second in this year’s European Poker Tour event, the poker prodigy said she was delighted with her progress and looked forward to developing her skills further.

“I am still learning so much,” she told pokerpages.com. “There are still a lot of areas of my live game that can improve. My instincts, my ability to know what certain tells mean - but I am getting better all the time.” With total tournament winnings of over $2,400,000, Obrestad already ranks second on the all-time money list of Norwegian poker players just behind seasoned professional Thor Hansen.
