My favourite online poker sites

My friend’s and I get together once a month to catch up, have a few beers and play poker. It’s wicked it can get a bit out of hand as we are all so competitive! Recently, I have found that everyone else is getting so much better than me so I decided to go online and check out some of the online poker sites to hone my skills and pick up a few tips. I have found playing online is non threatening, no one knows who I am and I can even get a game or two in on a Friday afternoon while I’m a work….pretty cheeky I know, but what my boss doesn’t know what hurt him!!
I thought I’d share a few of my favourites sites with you and see if you had any new ones I should check out. I know I was slightly overwhelmed when I logged on as there are SO many website to choose from!
One of the newest poker companies online is PKR, they are a 3D Poker website. It’s brilliant, I have signed up with them and created an avatar of myself, their software allows me to show emotion, gesture and I think it makes the whole poker experience more enjoyable. I also really like the promotions, the amount of I can enter poker tournaments and the fact that there is a PKR Forum where you can post questions and chat to other players…PKR really does feel like a community site. I’ve also heard that PKR will be at T in the Park in Scotland this year, I think that show how brilliant and innovative PKR is! These guys are obviously an entertaining brand rather than purely a poker site.
Poker Stars is also another favourite, it is the world’s largest poker site and has some of the biggest names in poker as part of Team Poker Stars. There are so many types of poker games at Poker Stars I have the option of playing Texas Hold’em, Omaha Poker, Omaha High-Low, Seven Card Stud, Five Card Draw at any time. I have been online a number of times as it often has the best online offers and promotions. Their Sunday Millions is a tournament I aiming to be good enough to enter, they guarantee a prize pool of $1,000,000!! Amazing!
I tried out VC Poker last week for something different and had a good time. I was able to get on a table straight away as they have a huge choice of real money tables. As an added bonuses VC Poker matched my initial deposit by 100% which made my money go further which was great! They also have daily tournaments so there is a lot of choice and no way I can miss out on winning money!
One of my friend’s raved on about Littlewoods’s Poker which I think I’ll check out this weekend. Apparently in your first month as Littlewoods’s will give you the chance to earn a free bonus of up to £100. It looks like there are quite a few bonuses and tournaments to take part in.
The brilliant thing about playing poker online is that you become a better and more experienced player. At first I was a bit daunted by the number of poker operators but after spending some time of the sites the advantage of registering with a few of them is that there are always tournaments to take part in and win money. I think whether you are an expert or an enthusiast like me you should have a go and check what’s available online.

Hey,
Thank you so much for your review of the best poker websites! I have been following the WSOP in Vegas a little bit and am a little bit hooked on the game. Having never played online I wasn’t sure where to play your article has been really helpful!
I’m from Australia and remember that when Australian Joe Hachem won the WSOP in 2005 Aussie’s went mad! I didn’t know he was a member of the Poker Stars team until I checked out the site after reading your blog. In solidarity I’ll be giving Poker Stars website a go.
PKR.com also looks really cool for something a little bit different.
Thanks again!!

I tried PKR, I think that site is more for gamers who dabble in online gambling.
I think the site for people who are more interested in playing poker without all the fancy extras is Poker Stars or maybe Victor Chandler. It is what it says it si on the box at these sorts of sites.
The features on PKR.com are amazing and so clever, dont get me wring I am not saying that they are not, but I do think that it distracts from what you are doing, which is playing the game - how can you concentrate on your hand when your character is jumping all over the place and choosing what outfit to wear?!!

I kind of agree, but I definately think that you get the fun factor on a site like PKR. Even if the controls and functions take a while to get used to it puts the funK back into PoKer!!!
